We Love Ashtanga.
Sara is the owner of Joy Is My Armor and teaches the Mysore classes as well as Ashtanga Form & Breath. She has been practicing yoga for most of her life. She started with Hatha Yoga as a kid under the guidance of her father, who also taught her Yoga Nidra. She did competitive horse riding and bicycle racing for years and rediscovered yoga after college.
She began Ashtanga in 2001. She studies under KPJAYI authorized teacher, Karri Jinkins, and completed a 200-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher's Intensive with Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor in 2018. She's also received RYT-200 hours of Ashtanga Primary and Intermediate series training at Pure Yoga in New York City with Scott Harig in 2016 and 2017. She has practiced with Sharath Jois and Saraswati Jois in New York City when they visit the U.S. and with Manju Jois in Florida and California.
She considers herself "a student first" and is excited to share her enthusiasm for Ashtanga with her community in Hoboken, NJ.
Trevor Vaughan teaches the Half-Primary Series. He is a teacher and director at HudsonSeed which brings yoga and mindfulness programs to children in schools. Trevor is 500 hour RYT and has taken two 100 hr Ashtanga Trainings at Pure Yoga West in New York City. In his previous life, he worked in the energy financial markets. After leaving his job in 2013 and overcoming a debilitating tumor, Trevor turned to his passion for people’s health and wellness, physical, mental and spiritual. Trevor is active in Hoboken's recovery community, passionate about the mind-body benefits of Ashtanga and excited to share his enthusiasm for life.
